Big City – LYRICS

hey hey
hey hey hey
i can read that sign

(Chorus)
green lights

bring the love to the city
people crossing as we go by
everybody is alright
i can read that sign

Daylight

all we build is the city
always so lovely some company
as people dey go by
i can read that sign

tonight

all of us we are going
tryna live up the ghetto

ghetto right in the ghetto
i can read that sign

hey hey
hey hey hey
i can read that sign
hey hey
hey hey hey
i can read that sign
(Rap Verse)
take a trip in a minibus destination Nairobi
suddenly we come to a stop
then i look around
it was a red light green light yellow light
turning upside down
paa paa pee pee
traffic jam in the city
and when we all come down from the mountains and the valleys
we found them building an empire
and the roadmap to destroy their identity
beyond repair
in the suburban areas and common neighborhoods
most of them are still yearning for the wounds to heal
but dats the city
that’s why all of us is going tryna live up the ghetto
to minimize the effect of the problem
within the ambience of the big city
something you see
is still there
the mau mau
the mau mau
the mau mau sequel
tribal clans
mans and womans
children
counting the days of a system
its push and pull
closer to the fall of Babylon
and those who sit on the fence or on the highway its amusing to see
the dead coming alive
sema
the dead coming alive
sema
the dead coming alive
sema
the dead coming alive
sema
check it out now
sema
all of us we are going
sema
tryna live up the ghetto
sema
ghetto right in the ghetto
sema
i can read that sign
sema
na man am in the big city boy
sema
am in the big city
sema
am rolling,
sema
am rolling manze
sema
am checking out the system is over there
sema
all of us we are going
sema
tryna live up the ghetto
sema
ghetto right in the ghetto
sema
i can read that sign
sema

Verse

pale kwa ile kona ya Kwame Nkrumah and Julius Nyerere
the flag of the African house imepandwa
waving across the African horizon
na macho za a blind man
naweza kuona graffiti on the wall
freedom haicome na installments
ju ukipay the last installment
uta kuwa shot dead or something invincible
on the outskirts of the city
tumecross ile 16th parallel
with peace on the ground
and a marching generation
of peasants and working class
propelling towards the corridors of a written constitution
pale man is supposed to be equal
yet black empowerment
draws a thin line between kind is to human
and selfishness is to family
to family
and selfishness is to family
to family
and selfishness is to family
to family
tokutana tolingana
namboka ya baCongo
tolingana tosalisana
bana Namibia
and selfishness is to family
to family
and selfishness
tosalii bakaya
namboka yaweyo
tolingana tosalisana
bana Namibia
and selfishness is to family
to family

    Hi.

I heard this song about 20 years ago but it was sung in a reggae style and some of the words replaced with others like Nairobi with Kingston. Do you ahve any idea who might of resung this or copied it.
